We’re looking for an experienced, detail-oriented software test engineer who can take ownership of implementing test automation and perform ad hoc testing on the front end of our products.
In addition to coding UI automation scripts yourself, you’ll work closely with our middle-tier and back end developers to plan and design the test harnesses and API improvements you’ll need to do your own work. We also need someone with a keen eye for detail who thinks creatively about how to provide the best customer experience. We’re not looking for a tester who just throws bugs over the wall to the developer. As a leader in the content creation business, words matter at Author-it – that missing apostrophe in the UI text is a big deal when your user base is primarily writers!
We’re a user-centered design team working in agile software development environment. Our user-centered design philosophy extends across the company, from feature definition (personas and user stories/scenarios) through testing and user documentation, and even sales, implementation, and product support. Each test plan you write and test case you execute will be rooted in this customer-centric philosophy.
There’s interesting and exciting work ahead, and you can be a part of it.
Key responsibilities
- Design and develop automated tests and tools for Author-it product components, including core product functionality, web properties, and add-on enhancements (plugins).
- Design and execute test cases that factor in the real-world complexity of enterprise software.
- Execute ad-hoc testing for end-to-end product scenarios.
- Collaborate with discipline leaders (Dev, QA, and UX) to establish reliable and repeatable test processes that ensure zero defects for customers and partners.
- Review and provide input on product design to ensure testability and quality.
